I’ve been wanting to make a “Movies of 2011” list, but some of the must-see movies of that year haven’t been released here yet and I’d rather see them on a big screen than on my laptop.
It’ll be a top 15 of mostly widely-released movies, but let’s start with some honorable mentions:
The Adventures of Tintin (Steven Spielberg)
Beautiful animation, entertaining story and the 3D wasn’t even that annoying.
Captain America: The First Avenger (Joe Johnston)
Like all of the movies taking place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: great blockbuster, not perfect, but perfect if you appreciate comic books (like yours truly). Or if you’re republican and have a big truck. AMERRRICA.
Crazy, Stupid, Love. (Glen Ficarra, John Requa)
Impressively entertaining and even hilarious during some parts. Not crazy or stupid, but definitely funny and charming.
Grave Encounters (The Vicious Brothers)
Expecting something pretty shitty, but it turned out to be good shit. Still shit though. Still one of the better found footage-films out there.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (David Yates)
“THE END OF AN ERA” -weeping Tumblr girls. Didn’t really feel like that for me, but it’s the best out of the eight movies. Daniel Radcliffe is still horrible and the epilogue… it’s even worse than in the book.
Rango (Gore Verbinski)
My mom likes this movie cause Johnny Depp’s voice is in it, but the great humor, fantastic animation and many movie references makes it a great film for guys who still watch movies with their mom at age 21.
Thor (Kenneth Branagh)
See Captain America.
X-Men: First Class (Matthew Vaughn)
Good days for superhero movies. Probably the best X-Men movie to date.
